U.S. Egg Price Benchmark (EGGS)

Tracks the official U.S. wholesale egg prices, quoted per dozen.

This market reflects real-world food inflation, production pressure, and short-term supply shocks.

The index tracks graded loose, white, large, caged shell eggs with FOB (Free on Board) pricing of national origin. Also known as the USDA national loose white large shell egg price or "Eggs US," prices are calculated based on the cost of 30-dozen cases in wholesale markets.

Data Sources

We fetch source data from the following providers:

  • USDA Agricultural Marketing Service - Official government reports on egg prices and agricultural commodity data
  • Market mid price - Current market's mid price from Tings market

All sources are weighted equally in our oracle calculation. These coefficients might be adjusted during the testnet phase as we assess the reliability and accuracy of each source.

Oracle Algorithm

The final oracle value is calculated using the oracle algorithm described in the Oracle Price Evaluation documentation.
